Aside from the various designs in my web store, I've also been making custom pins (or badges, or buttons, whatever you call them) for bands, organizations, zines, and the like for nearly five years. It's how I pay the ramen-noodle man. These pins are high quality at a DIY price -- I use high-quality laser printing, not the tacky inkjet desktop printer stuff we've all seen before. I also strive to get your pins to you as quickly as possible -- when you provide the artwork, turn-around is usually only a couple of days.

We make 1 inch and 2 1/4 inch pins, as well as 1 inch magnets. Prices are as follows:
  Black and White Color
1" Pins $15/100 $20/100
1" Magnets $30/100 $35/100
2 1/4" Pins $25/100 $30/100

There is a flat $5 shipping rate for any quantity of pins within the US -- this means that if you order 100 pins, shipping will be $5, but if you order 1000 pins, shipping will still only be $5. All items are shipped USPS First Class or USPS Priority mail. We are happy to ship Internationally, however, International shipping rates are calculated on a per-order basis.

Sorry, we no longer accept orders for pick-up. We used to allow customers located in the Cleveland area to pick up pins from us to avoid the shipping fee. However, we've had a few incidents with people ordering pins, then promptly falling off the face of the Earth, leaving me with a pile of pins and no money. If you have picked pins up from me in the past you still may do so, but we are not accepting new pick-up customers.

I can do any quantity over 25 pins at the above rates. I can mix and match designs as long as the quantity of each design is at least 25 pins. Please allow at least two weeks if you need your pins by a certain date. 90% of the time I finish orders in a couple days, but if you want a large quantity of pins, I have a bunch of pending orders, I'm out of town, my computer has exploded, or any other unforeseen circumstance, it might take longer. If you do need pins on short notice, ask before ordering.

We reserve the right to charge a fee for formatting graphics. If your graphics are properly formatted to our template, we do not charge this fee. However, if we have to alter your graphics in any way, our base rate is $20/hr with a minimum charge of $5. This may sound like a lot, but if you compare what a "real" graphic designer expects, you're getting quite a deal. See the layout section below for more information on how to format your graphics.

Layout: If you have a design you would like to use for your pins, click here to download a 300 dpi JPG of the pin template for 1" pins and magnets and click here to download the template for 2 1/4" pins. Alter your design to fit this template. The area between the two circles is the bleed area, which won't show up on the pin, but you should make it the same color as the background of your pin. The area inside the smaller circle is the area your design will fit into. Delete the black line around the inner circle on your final design or it will show up on the pin, and it never looks too sharp. Please send me your final design as a (at least) 300 dpi JPG or PNG not a tiny 72 dpi image, and not a TIFF, BMP, PDF, PSD, or any other file format! 99% of the time I can't even open these other formats, which wastes your time and mine.

Here's a page with some more tips and examples on how to design pins.

If none of this makes any sense to you, I recommend having a friend who is good with computers do it for you. If that's not an option, I will fit your design onto the template myself, or even scan in your artwork if you don't have access to a scanner. However, I do charge $20/hour for all graphic work (as mentioned above). I am also capable of designing custom graphics -- prices for that are negotiable. Look at the pins in our store to get an idea of what I do.

Ordering: To order pins, please contact me at pins[at]decaying-industries.com -- replace the [at] with an @ -- I type it that way to avoid spam. I can accept credit cards, eChecks, and bank transfers via both PayPal and Google Checkout, and money orders the old fashioned way through the mail (no personal checks -- they have a nasty tendency to bounce.)
